- Michelle was so happy she could hardly control her
emotions. She was standing outside the apartment where
she and Robert had lived for six long years. All she
could think of was how much she hated that tiny apartment.
After their daughter
Heather was born, apartment life had become more and
more inconvenient. More laundry to carry - More groceries
to lug in from the parking lot, in the rain, through
the snow and slush, with a baby.
This was moving
day at last! She watched as Robert and his friends
loaded the last of their furniture into the U-Haul
rental truck. Robert slammed the door closed to the
back of the U-Haul and snapped the lock.
Michelle and
Heather squeezed into her packing box filled Saturn
and followed Robert and the U-Haul out of the apartment
complex parking lot for the last time.
As she turned
on to the tree-lined

street
that she would now call home, Michelle was astonished
at how quiet and peaceful their new neighborhood was.
The lawns were neatly trimmed and well maintained. Children
were laughing and playing in their yards or riding their
bikes on the sidewalks.
What a different
feeling this was - a quiet, safe place for children
to play. Their new private fenced0in backyard waited
for them with a "Jungle Gym" for Heather,
two towering maple trees, a patio for entertaining
or just relaxing, and a marvelous large garden.
Tears welled
in her eyes as Michelle recalled how for years she
and Robert had struggled to save money for a home.
There were always more bills than money. She had lived
with the fear that they would never be ale to save
enough money to buy their own home.
All that changed
when Michelle saw an article in the newspaper about
government home loans that helped people get
loans on lovely homes in great neighborhoods.

called the 24-hour Information Hotline number listed
